In 2008, Hunter's Dream for a Cure awarded Mountain View Special Education a $5,000 grant.

Mountain View Special Education Program

"Thanks to Hunter's Dream we will be able to meet the educational and sensory needs of some of the 620 students here at Mountain View."

Mountain View Elementary is a public school with a commitment to excellence and programs that meet the needs of our special needs children's minds and bodies.  Learning occurs through a variety of movements and research on brain functioning shows that physical activity which crosses the midline of the body increases brain activity, in turn creating better learners.

Approximately 55 special education students and many others at our school will have the resources at hand to increase attentiveness and focus on the educational opportunities provided.

Hunter's Dream is helping many children and their families realize their dream of a more successful educational experience.  The Mountain View Special Education Team is committed to supporting mild, moderate and significant needs students who will learn, adapt and function at their individual levels, to become independent and contributing members of the community. Each child presents with specific gifts and talents as well as needs, and this grant will be used to create a Mobile Intervention Center to address the sensory, motor and therapeutic needs of students. The center will provide opportunities for students to address the sensory needs that may interfere with reaching their full potential within their learning environment. The center will be accessible to all classrooms and data will be collected regarding the use and outcomes.
