Poudre Valley Hospital Children's Orthotic & Prosthetic Fund
The Poudre Valley Hospital Foundation was founded in 1976, and the Children’s Orthotic & Prosthetic Fund was created in 2001. The Fund provides financial assistance for the prosthetic and orthotic needs of uninsured and underinsured children from birth to age 21.
Prosthetics and orthotics can cause problems for children in particular because they are always growing. During fast-growing states, a child may need to change his prosthesis two to three times a year – a very expensive and painful process, especially if the device does not fit right. The goal of the Fund is to assist and enrich the quality of life for the greatest number of children possible.
The Children’s Orthotic & Prosthetic Fund is transforming the future for disabled children in our community who have lost a limb or need assistive devices. In the short term, the Fund helps disabled children regain the ability to walk and move without pain. In the long term, the Fund is ensuring that each and every child in Fort Collins has the opportunity to experience a healthy and happy childhood despite their disability.
