Celebrity Charity Gala & Golf Tournament
DENVER, COLO—May 17 and 18, 2008. The Dave Diaz Infante & Mark Schlereth Charity Golf Classic celebrated its seventh annual celebrity charity gala and golf tournament at the Inverness Hotel and Conference Center.
The festivities began on Saturday night with a celebrity autograph signing and a cocktail party followed by dinner, silent and live auction, & dance. One hundred and sixty items were auctioned, raising more than $59,000! A combined total of over $130,000 was raised from the gala and golf tournament.
“The live auction included Jay Cutler stepping up and bidding the most money on an electric motorized ‘Bad Boy Buggy’, said Robb Nelson, founder of Hunter’s Dream for a Cure.
Dave Diaz-Infante emceed the dinner which provided humor though out the evening. “It’s humbling how the foundation has grown over the past seven years. This year’s event is a good example of the tremendous support we’ve received from our friends, partners, and sponsors. Without their commitment, we could not continue to support the people and programs here in Colorado, as well as nationally”, said Dave Diaz-Infante.
Dr Anne Comi accepted a $50,000 check presented by Robb and Wendy Nelson from Hunter’s Dream for a Cure. The funds will be donated to the Hunter Nelson Sturge Weber Syndrome Center, in Baltimore, Maryland. Additionally, Wendy spoke about “DREAMS” and gave the opportunity for all guests to personally donate toward “DREAMS FOR CHILDREN”. Over $2,300.00 was raised from the bids, which will be used to help benefit programs in Colorado that assist children with neurological diseases.
The event ended with after dinner cocktails and a dance party to the Freddie Henchi Band. “This was indeed a ‘party with a purpose’, benefiting children and programs that cannot support themselves”, said Diaz-Infante.
Thirty teams participated in Sunday’s Golf tournament that was sponsored by King Pharmaceuticals. Each player received a golf jacket donated by Under Amour, a shirt donated by Roper and an embroidered Ping bag. Coors provided beverages throughout the event.
Thirty-four celebrities from various organizations including: the Denver Broncos, ESPN, NFL, & MLB played in the Celebrity Charity Golf tournament. The winning team included Former Bronco - Rich Jackson, John Marasco, Dustin Moser, John Reid & Steve Schroeder, all from MCPN.
