(From a Dad who lost his 5 1/2 year old, ME)
My heart has been aching for you all this past week and it will always have a place for you. As I watched the rain pour down this morning during the ceremony in remembrance of those that were lost I knew they were tears from Heaven as God was crying for your loss. You are not supposed to bury your child! This letter is not meant to provide any answers for you because I don’t have them and just so you know neither will anyone else. There are no words that can truly help you in this time. I know it feels like your life has been ripped apart and shattered. You are now a member of a group that I would not ask my worst enemy to join. It is my burning desire and wish that you find comfort in the one thing that I know for sure! You will see your little Angel again in Heaven someday! |

On September 29, 2010 on our way to South Dakota for the 8th Annual Celebrity Hunt for a Cure, we heard the news that Carl Comer passed away at the age of 65. Carl and his wife Barb helped start the Celebrity Hunt for a Cure 10 years ago. Just days before we had called Carl to invite his wife Barb and him to be our special guests in South Dakota. As it is with the loss of any family member, we were schocked and in disbelief. As we know too well from our own loss, it seemed like a bad dream. We had hoped to see Carl and Barb at the event if not soon and now he was gone. The fundraiser went on, but not without some heavy hearts, a moment of silence and an acknowledgement in front of all at the banquet that we had lost a dear friend of the foundation and family member who never met a stranger!
Until we see each other again Carl

Frankly we don’t know what to say but the 8th Annual 2010 Celebrity Hunt for a Cure was nothing short of Amazing! The final numbers are in and we raised $127,000 (NET) with your tremendous support!!!
This was the first time that the Celebrity Hunt was hosted outside of Colorado and the Weinreiss Family welcomed us into their “Home” at Cheyenne Ridge Signature Lodge, with open arms! We can’t thank them enough for their generosity. The venue was first class to say the least. The food was amazing and the bird hunting & trap shooting was incredible.
Some of the most memorable moments were the private concert put on by Country Music Star Craig Morgan and the amount of money raised by the 5 SV10 Perennia III shotguns donated by Beretta. Craig also donated the guitar he played which was auctioned off for $7,000. Be sure to look for the hunt on the Outdoor Channel as it was filmed by Craig Morgan All Access Outdoors and on Versus on The World of Beretta.
Our foundation and this event have undoubtedly become our son Hunter’s Legacy. We have an incredible void in our life as a result of Hunter’s loss but with our son Brady and your help we are inspired to accomplish great things in Hunter’s name for children with neurological diseases and special needs! We see Hunter’s profound spirit in all of your actions and words!
We cannot thank you enough for your continued support. Because of the compassion and generosity that you have shown, Hunters Dream has been able to not only fund research for children with Sturge-Weber Syndrome and other neurological disorders but it has also funded many programs that benefit special needs children across the country. Once again, we are amazed by the generosity that we receive year after year from our celebrities, sponsors, volunteers and participants. We hope that you had a great time and we are anticipating many more to come!
If you didn’t make it out this year we hope you can make it next time. We can guarantee you a memorable time for a heartwarming cause!!! We hope to see you next year for the 9th ANNUAL CELEBRTIY HUNT FOR A CURE @ Cheyenne Ridge Signature Lodge!!!
God Bless,
Robb & Wendy Nelson
